UNN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 2

Here is the continuation of the admission requirements of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
                                                     FACULTY OF DENTISTRY


DENTISTRY
in addition to UTME requirements 3 Advanced Level passes in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics in London GCE in one sitting.

[b] B.Sc degree in related field of study for admission into the Five year standard programme.

[c]  Holders of MBBS may be admitted into the three year clinical course in Dentistry
In addition to university minimum entry requirement the entrance candidates are expected to have Five credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry Mathematics and Physics in SSCE at the O’ level in not more than one sitting
Physics, Chemistry & Biology.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION
ADULT EDUCATION
[I]  Candidates who hold either the Diploma in Adult Education., Community Development, Social Welfare, Religion, Health and Physical Education, or any other Diploma recognized by the University of Nigeria Senate .
[ii] Candidates who passed at the Advanced Level in the GCE or at the Principal level in the HSC in at least two subjects including that to be combined with Adult Education.
[iii] Candidates with university Diploma/OND at Distinction, Credit, or Merit  levels in other disciplines not related to Adult Education who possess UNN minimum Entry requirements plus a credit in any related Science or Arts subjects, may be considered for Direct Entry Admission but will run a four-year programme.

(i) For the three professional adult education options, candidates seeking entry into the four-year degree programme must  satisfy the minimum University entry requirements which stipulates a minimum of five credit passes at the GCE ‘O’ level  or SSCE in English Language and a Science subject with any three other relevant subjects.
[ii] Candidates seeking entry into any of the six specialized areas of the combination in the Arts and Social Sciences must meet the University minimum entry requirements in addition to the entry requirements of the department into which they are seeking combination.
i.          For the three professional Adult Education options candidates seeking entry into the four-year degree programme must take English Language and any other three subjects in arts and Science as their choice may be.
ii.         For those combining Adult Education with English, their UTME subjects must include English Language, Literature and any other arts Subjects.
iii.                  For other combinations, English plus any other Arts or Science subjects related to one’s choice of combination.

HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDU:.
A.  PHYSICAL EDUCATION
 AND RECREATION OPTION
(a)  Minimum of Merit pass in 2-year diploma in Health and Physical Education of the University of Nigeria.
(b) NCE (Merit) in Health and Physical Education/Integrated Science/Food and Nutrition.
(c)  Merit in National Institute of Sports (NIS) certificate.
(d) Two A-level papers in GCE/HSC, one of which must be Biology or Zoology.

(a)     ‘O’ level credits passes in five subjects including English Language and Biology/Health Science/Physical Education/Agricultural Science in WASC/NECO/SSCE/GCE obtained in not more than two sittings.
(b)     TCII merit pass in five subjects including English language, Biology/Physical Education/Agricultural Science.
Biology and any 2 relevant subjects

B.  HEALTH EDUCATION
    OPTION
(a)     Minimum of Merit pass in 2-year Diploma in Health and Physical Education of the University of Nigeria.
(b)     Diploma in Public Health Nursing or Registered Nurse (RN)/Registered Midwife (RM)/ Registered Nurse Tutor (RNT)/community Health Officers (CHO) Certificates.
(c)      NCE with Merit pass in Health and Physical Education or Biology/Integrated Science/ Food and Nutrition from an approved College of Education recognized by the University of Nigeria.
(a) Five SSCE/GCE/NECO credits /TCII merit passes in five subjects including English Language, Biology/Health Science/Physical Education or their equivalent in not more than two sittings.
Same as in Physical education

A. LIBRARY  AND
INFORMATION SCIENCE with Science Combinations [Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology]


B.LIBRARYAND INFORATION SCIENCE with Social Science Combinations [Economics, Geography and          Political Science]

C. LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE With Arts Combinations, [English, French, History].


Direct entry candidates must hold one of the following qualifications:
[I]   NCE with at least merit in Library and Information Science or the subject being combined with library & Information sciences.
[ii]   Diploma in Library and Information Science with at least merit or other diploma (e.g. HPE, Computer Education etc.) certificates with credit, in addition to UTME requirements which  must include subjects to be combined with Library and Information Science.
[iii]   Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced level in at least two subjects, including that to be combined with Library and Information Science.
University minimum entry requirements with five O level credit passes, including the subject to be combined with Library and Information Science.


Any three subjects








 The following additional requirements apply to particular combinations:
(i) Credit in Mathematics for Library & Information Science/Physics, & Library and Information Science/ Economics.
(ii) Credit in Mathematics/Physics for Library & Information Science/Chemistry.
(iii) Pass in Mathematics for those combining Library and Information Science with Botany, Geography, Political Science or Zoology.
(iv) Credit in English Language for those combining Library & Information Science with French, History or Political Science.
(v) Credit in English Literature for Library & Information Science/English.
VOCATIONAL TEACHER EDUCATION
A.    Agric Education
Any of the following in addition to UTME entry requirement:
In addition to UTME requirement,
          i.            Merit in NCE Agricultural Science.
         ii.            GCE A’ level in any two of the following: Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Economics.
        iii.            National Diploma (ND) or Diploma at Merit level in Agriculture or Animal Health from any Nigerian School of Agriculture.
       iv.             In addition to UTME Departmental entry requirement, Candidates with UNN Diploma at distinction/Credit/Merit in the following disciplines listed below may be considered for Direct Entry admission but will run a 4-year programme.
Diploma in Computer Education or Computer Science
Diploma in Social Work
Diploma in Adult  Education
Diploma in Environmental Protection and Management (Climate change studies).
Five O’ level credit passes in subjects which must include Agricultural Science or Biology plus at least a pass in Chemistry in SSCE/GCE (O’L) or NECO/NABTEB in addition

English Language, Agric/Biology, Chemistry and any other  social science subject among Economics, Geography, Government; any trade between Animal Husbandry and Fishery.

B.  Business Education
(i)       Two ‘A’ level passes plus UTME requirements..
(ii)      A minimum of, at least, merit level pass at NCE Business Education plus UTME requirements
(iii)     A minimum of lower credit pass at ND Secretarial Studies/ Administration from any recognized polytechnic plus UTME requirements.
(iv)     Full Technical Certificate / National Secretarial Examination Certificate at Advanced level in Business Studies plus UTME requirements.
(v)      Candidates with University diploma at distinction/ credit/ merit level in other disciplines listed below who possess the departmental entry requirement may be considered for direct entry admission but will run a 4-year programme.
Diploma in Computer Education
Diploma in Social Work
Diploma in Adult Education
Diploma in UNN Cooperative Studies
Credit passes in five subjects obtained at SSCE/ NECO/ NABTEB/ GCE ‘O’ Level which must include, English language, Mathematics and any of the following subjects: Economics, History, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Typewriting, Government, Geography, Physics and Chemistry.
English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus one of Commerce,  History, Government, Geography, Chemistry and Physics

 C. Computer Education
In addition to UTME requirement,
i.       Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Physics and Mathematics,
ii.      Diploma in Computer Science Education or any other Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any Computer related studies from any recognized Institution.
iii.     Distinction/Credits/Merit or a minimum of merit level pass at NCE in Computer Education or Physics or Mathematics.
Five O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics or Physics, plus  three Science or Social Science subjects obtained at SSCE/ NECO/ NABTEB/ GCE.
English Language, Mathematics/ Physics and any other 2 science subjects.

D. Home Economics  
     Education
(a)  3-Year Degree Programme.  Any of the following in addition to UTME requirement:
          i.            A minimum of Merit level pass at NCE in Home Economics,
         ii.            A minimum of lower credit in ND OR Diploma in Fashion and Clothing Management Education OR Home Economics OR Home and Rural Economics OR Hotel and Catering.
        iii.            Candidates with University Diploma at Distinction/Credit/Merit level in any other discipline listed below who possess the departmental UTME entry requirement. may be considered for direct entry admission but will run a 4 year programme.
Diploma in Computer Education
Diploma in Social Work
Diploma in Adult Education
Candidates with a university Degree in any discipline in addition to the departmental UTME requirement may be considered for direct entry admission for a three year programme.
Five ‘O’ level credits which must include ANY TWO of the following: Home Management, Clothing and Textiles, Food and Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, Economics, Cosmetology, Garment Making and Catering Craft at WASC/ WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ level / /NABTEB/NECO plus UNN minimum entry requirement



English Language, Chemistry OR Biology plus any other two science or social science subjects like Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Geography.



E.  Industrial
     Technical Education

(i)             Two ‘A’ level passes in Physics and                 Mathematics in addition to   
                 departmental UTME requirement.

(ii)            ND with, at least, lower credit in Civil                 Engineering, Production/Elect.                 Engineering., Drafting Technology.

(iii)           Final City and Guilds or its equivalent                 plus National Technical Certificate.

(iv)           NCE with, at least merit pass in                 Technical Education

(v)            Engineering Technicians Part                   II Certificate.
Candidates with University diploma at distinction/credit/merit in the following disciplines listed below who possess the departmental entry requirement may be considered for Direct Entry but will run a 4-year programme.
Diploma in Computer Education.
Diploma in Physics or Maths.
Diploma in Computer Science.
NCE Computer  Education
Five ‘O’ level credits to include Physics or Mathematics at GCE/SSCE, NTC, City and Guilds intermediate in addition to UTME entry requirement.
English Language, Mathematics or Physics plus any other two subjects from  Science, Social Science or trade subject; Technical Drawing, Woodwork, Metalwork, Basic Electricity, Building Construction.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING [Professional]: 3-Year Degree  Programme

(a) In addition to UNN minimum Entry requirements, NCE/ACE in Two Relevant subjects at merit level or above or any Diploma in Education recognized for purpose of DE admission by the University of Nigeria.

(b) Diploma certificate in Education, Law, Social Sciences, Health Sciences and Humanities with at least merit level pass acceptable to the University.

(c)  Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery [NRN, SRN, NRM] recognized by the University for the purpose of direct entry admissions with at least a merit level pass.
Diploma holders are admitted to Counseling programme without teaching subjects.
Candidates who hold Diploma other than those listed in (a), (b), and (c) above may be considered for DE but they will be required to do the 4-year Degree Programme




GUIDANECE AND
COULSELLING with a Teaching Subject: 3-Year Degree Programme

Candidates must satisfy the UTME Entry requirements in addition to the Diploma listed above

G/C Combined with Science Teaching subject

G/C Combined with Social Science Teaching subject

Same as for Ed/Arts combination in the relevant teaching subject.
Same as for Ed/Science combination in the relevant teaching subject

ARTS EDUCATION
ED/ENGLISH
ED/HISTORY
ED/RELIGION
ED/FRENCH
ED/MUSIC
ED/IGBO LINGUISTICS
ED/FINE & APPLIED ARTS

          i.            NCE in the subject to be combined with Education with at least Merit pass in the subject plus UTME requirements.
         ii.            Candidates with University Diploma or OND at not less than merit level in other disciplines who possess the University minimum entry requirements which must include credit in the subject to be combined may be admitted for a four year programme.
Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include the subjects to be combined with Education and a credit or its equivalent in English Language at SSCE or its equivalent.

For Ed/English, Credit in English Language and Literature are compulsory.
For Ed/History, Government or History is compulsory
For Ed/French, French is compulsory.
For Ed/Igbo linguistics, Igbo is compulsory.
Candidates For Ed/Music and Ed/Fine & Applied Arts need not possess Music or Fine & Applied Arts respectively at O’ level, but are qualified with Five Credits at a sitting or six credits at two sittings which must include English Language.
English Language, the subject to be combined and two other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

For Ed/Music and Ed/FAA, English Language and three other Arts subjects.

SCIENCE EDUCATION

EDU. BIOLOGY
EDU. CHEMISTRY
EDU. MATHEMATICS
EDU. PHYSICS
EDU. INTERGRATED  SC.
          i.            Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant science subjects which should include candidates proposed course.
         ii.            NCE credit/merit passes in addition to TC II merit or ‘O’ level credit in relevant subjects.
        iii.            Candidates with University Diploma/OND in other areas at distinction, credit or merit level who possess the University Minimum entry requirement plus credit in the teaching subject may be considered for direct entry admission but will run the 4-Year programme.
Five O’ level credit passes including English language, Mathematics and two other science subjects.  One, which must be the proposed teaching subject.

For Int. Science:
Five credit passes which includes a credit in at least one science subject and passes in two other science subjects.
English Language and any three [3] science subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Health Science, Agric. Science.






SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION

EDU. ECONOMICS


In addition to departmental entry requirement,

Two “A” Level passes in relevant subjects which must include Economics.

NCE distinction, credit/merit passes in Education Economics in addition to TC II or O’ level credit in relevant subjects.

Five O’ Level Credit passes which must include – English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two subjects.

English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other Social Science subject

Education Geography

In addition to departmental entry requirement,

Two “A” Level Passes in relevant subjects which must include Geography.

NCE distinction, credit/merit passes in Geography Education in addition to TC II or O’ Level Credited in relevant subjects

Diploma in Environmental/Geography Education.
Five O’ Level Credit Passes which must include – English Language, Geography, plus any other three (3) subjects and  a pass in Mathematics.

English Language, Geography, plus any other two (2) subjects

Education Political Science

In addition to departmental entry requirement,

Two “A” Level Passes in relevant subjects which must include Government.

NCE distinction, Credit/Merit passes in Political Science Education in addition to TC II O’ Level credit in relevant subjects

Diploma in Public Administration/Political Science
Five O’ Level Credit Passes which must include English Language, Government, a science subject plus any other two subjects.
English Language, Government, plus any other two subjects.

Education Social Studies
In addition to departmental entry requirement,

Two “A” Level Passes in relevant subjects;

NCE distinction, credit/merit passes in Social Studies Education in addition to TC II O’ Level credited in relevant subjects.

Diploma in Public Administration Social Work and Environmental/Geography Education.
Five O’ Level Credit Passes which must include English Language, a science subject, plus three Social Science or Arts Subjects.

English Language, plus any other three Social Science/Arts subjects
