OND, NCE, HND and Degree in Agricultural
Science/Animal Health and related fields with a minimum of Lower Credit
(Merit) in addition to UTME Entry requirement.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes in subjects which
must include English Language, Biology/or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and
either Mathematics, or Physics

|

In addition to the UTME/General University Entry requirements,

NUTRITION
AND DIETETICS
|
Passes at the Principal levels in the
Higher School Certificate Examination or equivalent passes at GCE Advanced
Level in two of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology (Botany and/or
Zoology), Agricultural Science, Physics or Mathematics.
OND, NCE, HND
in Nutrition in and Dietetics/Home Economics/Agricultural Science, Food
Science plus UTME entry requirements into 2 or 3 hundred levels.
Certificate in Nursing or approved Diploma/NCE
in relevant subjects. Candidate must
also satisfy the UTME entry requirement.

In addition to the UTME/University general entry
requirements, candidates must have obtained credits in the O/L subjects which
must include Chemistry, Biology or Food and Nutrition or Agricultural Science
and Physics or Mathematics.

FOOD

|
For the 4-year (Direct entry) B.Sc. programme, candidates must possess
at principal level in the Higher School Certificate or equivalent passes in
GCE Advanced Level in any two of the following subjects:

Agricultural
Science
Physics
Mathematics
Candidates with Diploma in relevant subjects may be offered admission
by direct entry.

Credits in Five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings in the
Senior School Certificate Examination or its equivalent. The subjects must include: English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics
Physics Biology (Botany or
Zoology) or Agricultural Science and any other science subject.

|
[I] Merit

and any Science subject as well as a pass in Mathematics at WASC or GCE O/L
or its equivalent.

Candidates combining Archeology with Science or
social science subject must satisfy the requirements in the respective
programmes/departments.

COMBINED ARTS
|
i.
Two ‘A’ level
passes in the subjects to be combined.
ii.
Diploma/NCE
at merit level and above in subjects to be combined.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English
Language and the subjects to be combined.
|
The subjects to be combined and one other
subject.
|
|
THEATRE AND FILM STUDIES
|
i.
OND/NCE
either in Theatre Arts or any other relevant subjects or Advanced level
certificate in Literature.
ii.
OND in Mass
Communication, Fine and Applied Arts, Electrical/Electronic Engineering,
Music Management and other relevant areas plus UTME requirements.
|
Five ‘O’ level credit passes in subjects which
must include English language, Literature-in-English, and one science subject at WASCE or its
equivalents.
|
Literature in English and two other Arts or Social
Science.
|
|
ENGLISH/LITERARY STUDIES
|
(i) Two A
level passes to include Literature in English and one other Art subject. (ii)
NCE in English with not lower than C grade (merit). UTME Entry requirements
are required for (i) and (ii).

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include
Literature in English, English Language and a science subject.
|
Literature in English, 2 other Arts or Social
Science subjects.
|
|
HISTORY/INTERNATIONAL STUDIES
|
NCE with a minimum of Merit in History or
Government. HSC or GCE ‘A’ level in History or Government and at least one of
the following: Economics, English-Literature, English Language, Geography, or
any other related subject. .
|
WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO O’ level with a minimum of
five credits which must include History or Government, English Language, and
a science subject.
|
English Language, History or Government and two
other Arts or Social Science subjects.
|
|
FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERARY STUDIES
|
1. NCE with
a minimum of two merit level passes in relevant subjects as well as
University entry requirements.
2. Two
passes at GCE Advanced level (A/L), HSC or its equivalent, DALF certificate
or an acceptable Baccalaureate
Certificate in relevant subjects.

1. French
Single Honours:
Minimum of
five O/level credit passes to necessarily include French, English Language,
one science subject and two other arts subjects one of which must be
Literature in English.
2. German
Single Honours:
Minimum of
five O/level credit passes to necessarily include English Language, one
science subject and three other arts subjects, one of which must be
Literature in English.
German
single Honours:
Any language
proficiency certificate from the Goethe Institute will be a great advantage.
3. French/German combined honours): A Minimum of five O/level credit passes to
necessarily include English Language, French, one science subject and two
other arts subjects one of which must be Literature in English.
4.
French/Russian combined honours): A Minimum of five O/level credit passes to
necessarily include English Language, French one science subject and two
other arts subjects one of which must be Literature in English.
5. UNN accepts candidates who
are successful in its one year preparatory programme in French (minimum 40%)
plus UTME requirements with the exception of French.

other Arts subjects.
For
2: Literature in English and two other
Arts subjects.
For
3 and 4: French, Literature in English and one other Arts subject.

|
FINE AND APPLIED ARTS
|
[1] Three
GCE ‘A’ level passes in Fine Arts or Technical Drawing plus UTME
requirements.
[ii] OND
(credit) in Fine and Applied Arts in addition to UTME requirement.
[iii] NCE certificate with an average of B grade
plus UTME requirement.
[iv] HND holders in Fine and Applied Arts or its
equivalent in relevant areas plus UTME requirement.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include Fine/Applied
Arts and English Language and one Science subject. Candidates who possess NABTEB/NTC must have
5 credit passes which must include English Language, Technical drawing,
painting and decorating and a science subject.
|
Fine Art and 2 other Arts or Social Science
subjects.
|
.UNN accepts HND holders with average of B grade
and UTME requirement into 300 level.
|

LANGUAGES

|
GCE A/level, HSC passes or NCE,(Merit) or its
equivalent in relevant Nigerian languages, or any other language and at least
one other subject.
Diploma in Nigerian language, OND in linguistics
and language studies/Nigerian language, with at least merit level passes. In all cases UTME requirement is compulsory.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English
Language, and one science subject.
Candidates for Linguistics must have a credit
pass in Literature in English.
Candidates for Linguistics and Nigerian language must possess a credit
pass in the Nigerian language being combined with linguistics.

Igbo or any other Language and any two other
subjects.

MASS COMMUNICATION
|
[A] HSC/.GCE ‘A’ level passes in two Arts

Language and Literature in English and at least a pass in Mathematics

4-Year Programme
Candidates with OND or UNN Diploma in courses other
than music.

Diploma in Music Education or NCE (Double Major
in Music Education) not less than lower credit (Merit).

include English Language.

|
UNN requires candidates to pass audition test –

BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
|

|
Direct entry
candidates are required to have obtained the General Certificate of Education
at Advanced Level or the Higher School Certificate at Principal Level in
Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology) and Physics plus UTME requirement.

Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.

BOTANY
|
i.
Passes at ‘principal’ level in the
Higher School Certificate Examination or G.C.E. ‘A’ level or its equivalent
in Chemistry and Biology or Botany or Zoology in addition to UTME requirements.
ii.
Merit pass in NCE in Biology and Chemistry from a
recognized institution, plus University minimum entry requirements.

to the University minimum entry requirements, credit in English Language,
Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in the West African School
Certificate Examination or G.C.E. ‘O’ level or its equivalent

MICROBIOLOGY
|
Passes
at Higher School Certificate or GCE A/L in Chemistry and Biology, or
Chemistry and Zoology, or Chemistry and Botany in addition to the UTME entry
requirement..

In addition to UTME requirement, credits in English language, Biology,
Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in (WASC)/(GCE)/(SSCE)/(NECO) or any other
acceptable equivalent certificate.

ZOOLOGY
|
Principal
level passes at HSC or GCE A/L in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and one other
Science subject plus UTME requirement..
Diploma in
Applied Biology from recognized institutions plus UTME requirement.

relevant fields plus UTME requirements, HND and NCE credit pass are
acceptable.

Five (5) O’
level credit passes obtained at not more than two sittings including Biology,

ACCOUNTANCY
|
(i) Two A’ level passes chosen from Economics,
Accounting, Business Management, Government and Geography.
(ii)
HND/OND/NCE in relevant fields.
(iii) The
following qualifications with UTME requirements.
(a)
Complete pass in the Intermediate ICAN
examination or equivalents;
(b)
Pass in final
exams of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries;

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English
Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects.
|
Mathematics, Economics plus any other Social
Science subject.
|
|
BANKING AND FINANCE
|
(i) Two A’ level passes chosen from Accounting,
Economics, Management, Mathematics, Geography and Statistics.
(ii) AIB,
three year Diploma and other professional qualifications or HND in relevant
fields plus UTME requirement.
(iii) As in Accountancy.
|
Five O’ level credits to include: English
Language, Mathematics and any other relevant subjects. For NBC the other two relevant subjects
could be from any of the following: Accounting, Principles of Accounts,
Commerce, Office Practice and Economics.

|
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
|
i.
Two A’ level
passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government,
Geography or Statistics.
ii.
UNN accepts
NCE/OND/HND.
iii.
UNN accepts
AIB or three year Diploma or other professional qualifications and HND in
relevant fields.

Five O’ level credits including English,
Mathematics, Economics, plus any of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce,
Government, Geography and Statistics.

MARKETING
|
As in Accountancy and Banking & Finance

Five O’ level credit passes including English
Language, Mathematics and any three relevant subjects.
