If we get our self esteem from superficial places, from our popularity, appearance, business success, financial situation, health, any of these, we will be disappointed, because no one can guarantee that we will have them tomorrow.
Kathy Ireland.
What really is this topic about? Is my self esteem
low? Is it high? How do I tell? What do I do about it?
These thoughts becloud my mind.
Well, self esteem answers the question, “ how do I
feel about myself”? How do I feel about who I am? How do I carry myself?...
Self esteem can be divided into two categories;
11) Global
self esteem-This has to do with who we are.
22) Situational
self esteem-This has to do with what we do.This aspect,( permit me to use the
word) fluctuates. It is highly dependent on circumstances, roles, events, etc. Fluctuation of the word, Self esteem, here means that it can be high at one
point and low at the other.
Moreover, there are two views to
self esteem;
i)
Low self esteem
ii)
High self esteem
Now,
we would love to take a look at the categories before going to the views above.
1) GLOBAL SELF ESTEEM
Global
self esteem grows as we face our fears and learn from our experiences(although
we mustn't have pretty bad experiences ourselves,wisdom demands we learn from
the mistakes of others). Here is what we can do about it, if we feel insecure
psychologically;
#1 Get Sober:
Identify addictions and replace them with self care. I’ve come to notice that
each time I do something wrong, I feel less of myself (although some may not
feel this way). I tend to feel ‘that guy’ is more like tending to perfection.
It is this feeling that makes us feel we are not up to standard.
#2 Practice Self care: once, I used to erroneously
think that my dressing didn’t really matter. To me, so long as I looked
beautiful or handsome in the face, I was “there.” Later on in Life, I found out
I was wrong. We need to practice self care because, from my personal experiences, each time I felt or thought I
looked good, I associated really well with my friends. I’d just leave that cage
of myself, I’d be free. On the other hand, if the opposite was the case, I
seemed to crawl back into myself like a snail would always crawl into it’s
shell.
Warning!!! Warning!!! Warning!!!
I don’t want to see your teeth open because you’re
about to laugh or smile!
I remember a day i had to go to school without
brushing my teeth and without my belt. If you’re a guy, you’d understand that
this is so horrible a situation. On one hand, I wasn’t free to greet or to
respond to greetings. On the other hand, I was so in a suspense, this minute
wondering what would happen if my pair of Trousers decided to come off my
waist. Lol... to be continued
Scott HamiltonAdversity, and perseverance and all these things can shape. they can give you a value and a self esteem that is priceless.
please, do leave your comments...

ReplyDeletebro, that is a truth as well as a fact.
on the other hand, one of the greatest fears I had always had was that of being afraid of what people have in mind about me. Of recent however, I have learnt to love and accept myself first and also to ask questions from people about how they think about me. i think I am throwing that question to you also.
Nice wite-up, was heavily blessed. thumbs up!
Yeah, Chris, thanks a lot for your comment. As regards your question, there are still things I've got to accept about myself. I believe grace is there for each and everyone of us. Thanks again
