TRUST, THE BEDROCK OF EVERY RELATIONSHIP.

Trust, the bedrock of every relationship

Part 1...

Trust is the glue of Life. it's the most essential ingredient in effective communication. it's the foundation principle that holds all relationships.
                                                                                                  - Stephen Covey
                                                                               Trust?

Kindly answer the following questions before reading on.
1)      Why will a parent send his or her child on an errand?
2)      Why will an individual be newly employed in a firm or company and work for three straight months without pay and the person remains there?
3)       Why will two individuals walk down the aisle and make vows to each other? Were they teleported into the future? do they know what it holds for them?
4)      Why do Christians have problems and they pray about it and go about their businesses? How can they do so without “getting high”?
5)      Why will someone be appointed to judge the action of other individuals like him in a law court? Don’t people have the right to live their lives the way they want?
6)      Why will you go to a place called a Bank and give them your (deposit) hard-earned money and they give you a piece of paper on return and call it a receipt? Have you ever wondered how safe your money was?
7)      Why will Mr. Aliko Dangote give you a piece of paper with some figures and his signature and you go with it to a bank and call it a Cheque?
From my perspective, the answer is simply TRUST. We call it belief, faith, but they all mean the same thing to me.
MY ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS ABOVE
1)      The parent believes that his child can handle the task. He trusts the child enough to give him or her responsibility knowing that he will not fail.
2)      The new employee believes that at the right time, his pay will come.
3)      They trust each other enough to know that they will keep to their promise and be faithful to each other.
4)      We know God is too faithful to fail us. We trust that he will not fail us. We may not get the answer we prayed for but we know he has full control of our lives.
5)      It is believed or assumed that he will neither be biased nor partial in his judgement.
6)      You have had several experiences with them and you know your money is safe.
7)      You believe that this piece of paper in your hand invariably means so much money at your disposal.
However, what is trust? What does it entail?
Trust is a belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). we can therefore, conclude that Trust is when you hand over or give up something in your possession to someone else and believe that he or she will take good care of it.
Trust entails letting go. It entails believing that someone else out there, could also take good care of what you have.
Bedrock means a strong base for something; the facts and principles upon which it is based (Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary- 6th edition).
A relationship, on the other hand, is the way in which two people, groups or countries behave towards each other or deal with each other OR it is a loving and/or sexual friendship between two people (Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary-6th edition).  Are you in a relationship?
HAVING DEFINED THE MAJOR CONCEPTS, YOU WOULD ASK YOURSELF A QUESTION. THIS IS ONLY IF AND ONLY IF YOUR ANSWER TO THE HIGHLIGHTED QUESTION ABOVE IS IN THE AFFIRMATIVE.
From my few discoveries, these are some of the reasons why people go into relationships.
1)      Physical looks:  The guy is very handsome and the girl is very beautiful so they conclude that they are a perfect match for each other.
2)      Status and fame: the need or feeling to hang out with a “person of interest”.
3)      The “everybody does it” syndrome.  Why must I be a Judas and be the odd man out?
4)      Adolescence: the period of adolescence has proved to be a very challenging one for most youths and teenagers. This is when hormones are at their peak performance. The young and inexperienced teen wants to experience Life. He starts getting attracted to the opposite sex and wants to be “close” to someone.
5)      Financial help: sadly, some go into relationships because they are facing financial challenges. This reason is better facilitated when the person that shows interest in them is financially buoyant. It is understandable but everyone who does this should know that it’s like putting their hands in fire. They’ll finally get burnt.
6)      LOVE AND/ OR MARRIAGE: MARRIAGE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL RELATIONSHIPS BECAUSE IT’S UNBREAKABLE. ONCE INSIDE YOU ARE MEANT TO EN(JOY            OR     DURE) IT.

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters
                                                                        Albert Einstein.
